I think a really well designed leaflet that has relevant information on is a good way to get that information out to a lot of people. I work a lot in schools and would love to be able to get to every school in the UK – but I can’t. So leaflets would be the next best thing, especially if they are written from the point of view of someone who isn’t that far out of school themselves (me!). I still remember how confusing all the information I got could be, and I remember not really knowing what engineering was until university open days, and I would like to change that for younger students who perhaps don’t have access to resources to get to universities. And I also think women in science is a really important cause, when I was in school in my Alevels I was the only female in 80 physics students! Its important that both girls and guys know that yes, this is a male dominated area but that doesn’t mean that females can’t get into engineering, and I would like to produce a leaflet to show lots of fantastic females who are out there working in engineering and all the fantastic things you can do in engineering!
